After focusing on his professional and personal life, Junco returned to racing in 2010 after a 10 year absence. He debuted in the ALMS 6 hours of Laguna Seca with Alex Job racing and scored a 3rd place finish in the GTC category alongside teammates Butch Leitzinger and Juan Gonzalez. That year and previous years, Junco was active in several Historic racing events driving several prototypes.
From 2002 – 2009, Junco found himself advancing his professional career after obtaining his Bachelor’s degree in Economics from ITESM in Monterrey. Junco worked in finance until 2004 when he enrolled in the Stanford Graduate School of Business to pursue an MBA. After finishing his Master’s, Junco joined a Fortune 500 company to work on challenging, high-level projects. In 2008, Junco and his wife decided to go back home, where he would start a private investment business that he currently runs and operates.
In 2001, Junco participated in second season of Dayton Indy Lights Championship with Mexpro Racing. He scored his first podium finish at PIR taking 2nd. Finished 9th in the championship with a 5th place and six top-10 finishes while missing two races due to injury. In 2000, Junco participated in first season of Dayton Indy Lights with a new team entry, Mexpro Racing, finishing 14th in the championship with five top-10 finishes. The previous year, Junco found himself running in the Pan-American Indy Lights Series scoring two podium finishes and three top five finishes. He finished second in Rookie of the Year standings and 6th in the championship in a season plagued with mechanical failures.
Junco spends his time at home with his wife and two daughters and his investment business. He also enjoys cooking and hanging out with friends, traveling, and the occasional round of golf.
