Gonzalez had a successful return to racing in 2010 after sitting out for seven years. He scored a podium finish on his ALMS debut at the 12 Hours of Sebring, followed by three additional podiums and three pole positions in the LMPC category on the same year. In 2011, the Mexican driver won the LMPC driver and team championships with CORE autosport and co-driver Gunnar Jeannette.
Gonzalez, a father of four, has had racing in his blood since he was born. His father finished third at the 1976 12 Hours of Sebring and his brother competed in the Champ Car World Series in 2003 and 2004. The Mexico City native began his career as a national karting champion, moving up to F3 in Mexico in 1994 where he was the youngest driver ever to compete and scored a pole position in his debut race. He went on to win five races in the Panamerican Indy Lights Championship from 1998 to 2000. From 2001 to 2003 Gonzalez competed in Europe in the European FC Championship and the World Series by Nissan scoring several podiums, pole positions and track records.
While at home Gonzalez focuses on running a successful insurance business, and during the weekends he spends his time with his kids at the go-kart track, on a dirt bike, wave runner, ski boat, or anything else that goes fast.
