The American Le Mans Series

With its roots firmly entrenched in one of the most famous motor races, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, where drivers and cars literally race to tomorrow, the American Le Mans Series has embraced a platform of innovation, carbon reduction and passion.

Having more open technical regulations than any other series in North America, the ALMS draws participants because it both encourages technical innovation and offers an arena in which to test and display it. The American Le Mans Series and its manufacturer partners are developing the passenger car technology of the future.

As the world leader in Green Racing, the ALMS is committed to future where automotive high performance and the reduction of our carbon footprint are one-and-the-same, and where automobiles can derive greater power and performance using less energy.

Yet, while the ALMS is focussed on the future, it has not forgotten about the passion for the automobile, its beauty and history. For this reason, more great automotive brands participate in the American Le Mans Series that any other race series.

The American Le Mans Series LMP Challenge
The American Le Mans Series LMP Challenge (LMPC) class has completed its second season in 2011 with the closest points battle in ALMS history for the driver and team championships.  Created by the organizers of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO) as an international class, it is aimed to deliver a format of tight competition within a strict set of rules to minimize operating costs for the teams.  Despite this, the class retains much of the allure of the faster prototype classes since all cars run the same races together.
